Furniture
Boot Bench, Cafe Table, Wall Clock
2013-2014
Role: Designer and Builder
Designing and building furniture pieces, I explored the emotive qualities of functional objects and engaged with the manufacturing process directly.
I interact with these pieces daily and continue to learn from them.
Boot Bench
White Oak, Wenge, 100% wood and glue joinery
I designed this bench to live by a home entryway. It’s meant for brief sitting, to put on your boots and wait for stragglers.
The frame travels around in a continuous self-supporting path with the seating panels simply placed.

Cafe Table
Walnut, Birch plywood, laminate
This intimate table seats 2-3 for coffee, tea, or a snack. Its organic shape gives each seating position a unique feel and brings the users close together. The materials are warm and practical.

Wall Clock
MDF, aluminum, brass
Inspired by large clocks seen in municipal and industrial settings I let the hierarchy of hours, minutes, and seconds guide the design. The three hands correspond to three style of tick marks on the face bringing a sense of order and calm.
